Hi all, Had a great time on the Bay to Birdwood, only problem is I didn't get any photos of my car. Mine was the only VC V8 white Valiant on the run. I would appreciate it if anyone has a pic and can send it to me. Cheers Jeff

This was my first year in the bay to birdwood, but we did have a slow run when we reached the end of Main NE Rd.

Interested in other entrants thoughts on having the road to Birdwood open to two way traffic this year. While it was great to be able to see the cars traveling in both directions, there seemed to be a much slower traffic flow this year. Was it bec...

Thanks to all the 10,611 people who attended this year's 'Bay to Birdwood' on Sunday 27 September 2009, despite the inclement weather! This year saw the return of the 'classic' event with vehicles manufactured from 1 January 1956 until 31 December 1977.

If you entered the event, upload pics of your car and maybe some of its history so other entrants and general visitors can remember you.

Why not upload your post-event photos and let your friends know what a great time you had? This site will be up all year so you can keep up with all your 'Bay to Birdwood' mates!

XJ6-JAG Update 26/09/2009

Well it's almost here - the day we have been waiting for - The Bay to Birdwood classic.
To all those sceptics out there who said we wouldn't make it - I sick my tongue out and blow raspberries blllew......

Despite having 8 weeks out with pneumonia - the Green Genie is in a state to actually drive, not overly pretty - the interior still needs a lot of work - but we made it.

Today saw us have the front window tint replaced after it was deemed too dark by the MRD when we went for a vehicle number… Continue

XJ6-JAG Update 25/09/2009

Today we have achieved a lot - we managed to change the SU's from the "Tardis" to the "Green Genie" and also get the manual choke hooked up, so no more excessive cranking the motor to get it to start.

The speedo was fixed, we had already taken the revamped one from the "Tardis" to the "Green Genie" but there was something else wrong, and we found that the speedo drive on the trans was shot, the again the "Tardis" kindly donated to get the speedo working.

And finally we took the fuel pump from… Continue

XJ6-JAG Update 22/09/2009

Well I think we have done it - the Green Genie, had her transmission mount repaired, she has now SA reg and we have taken her for a small run. We have some minor things to do but they are not crucial to the running of the car, they will have to wait.
We will be changing the Tardis SU's to the Green Genie on Saturday and hoping to replace the passenger side front electric window motor

XJ6 - Update 18/09/2009

The Green Genie, managed to pass inspection to have SA plates, so off to motor reg (MRD) or to the younger SA generation Transport SA to get the plates from my old white Tardis (custom plates XJ6-JAG) over to the Green Genie.

So here was the list of events to do this
The Tardis is actually now written off - so
Cancel the registration - but to do this you are suppose to surrender your plates (over my dead body) these custom plates are brilliant (XJ6-JAG)

So
We transfered the plates and H… Continue

XJ6 - Update 16/09/2009

We are slowly moving along, we are still hoping to be there on Sunday 27th Sept - we are entry 0081, off to Motor Reg tomorrow to get vehicle number check - since the Green Genie is originally QLD plated. All going well you will see us at Bay to Birdwood with the old Tardis number plates - XJ6-JAG. The Green Genie may not be in the renovated state that I would have liked, but as long as we make it there at the moment it will have to do, she may not look as pretty for the party but we don't mind… Continue
